The 7th “National Security Education Exhibition” co-organized by the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government and the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the MSAR was recently opened at the Macao Forum complex. A delegation of City University of Macau (CityU) led by Rector Jun Liu visited the National Security Education Exhibition today. This visit allowed leaders and faculty to enhance the awareness of national security, deepen patriotic education, promote love for the country and Macao, and to learn more about the holistic approach of national security and understand the latest achievements and development opportunities of the country in recent years. Vice Rectors Zhou Wanlei and Ip Kuai Peng, Council member Cintia Chan, University Consultant Ip Peng Kin, along with Pro-Rectors Wicky So Kam Hung, Robert Chan Chon Pat, and Vince Chu Te Lin attended the event.

This year’s National Security Education Exhibition took as its theme “Innovative Leadership: Ten Years of the Holistic Approach to National Security.” It displays the significance enhancement in the level of modernization of the national security system and capabilities since the proposal of holistic approach to national security a decade ago. It also presents a series of historical achievements made possible by the new security outline that safeguards the new development landscape. Under the support of the central government, the Macao SAR government continues to strength the legal enforcement mechanisms for safeguarding national security, actively integrates into the national development, and has made new progress in implementing the “one country, two systems” principle.

This year’s exhibition is divided into five sections. They are new achievements in national development and the start of a new journey in rejuvenation; comprehensively shaping high-level security and solidly promoting high-quality development; implementing the holistic approach to national security and safeguarding security in various fields; seizing new opportunities in national development and creating a new era of prosperity for Macao; and promoting patriotism and love for Macao, sharing the responsibility over national security.

This’s year exhibition also features a new “cybersecurity” column to enhance public understanding of the theme and its connections with the national security, and provide cyber security recommendations for individuals and organizations. This column exhibits 60 winning submissions of the Chinese essay competition under the themed of “My Understanding of Cybersecurity,” including two essays written by CityU’s students titled “cybersecurity concerns everyone, including young people like us,” and “building a solid foundation for cybersecurity and creating a harmonious nation with a strong cyber power.” Their submissions had reflected their thoughts and demonstrated their sense of responsibility to safeguarding national security and cybersecurity.

On the opening day of the National Security Education Exhibition on April 15, Pro-Rector Robert Chan Chon Pat and head of the Student Affairs Office, Lewis Chao Chan Chong, organized 30 students to visit and learn more about national security. Through information materials, audio-visual materials, and interactive devices, they learned about Macao's progress and achievements in safeguarding national security and further studied the scientific concept and theoretical system of the holistic approach to national security. The students gained valuable knowledge from this visit and learned that in the face of a more severe and complex national security situation in the new era, it is the responsibility of everyone to uphold and practice the concept of national security.
