City University of Macau (CityU) students have achieved outstanding results at the Macao regionals of the 6th National College Student Language Ability Competition, showcasing their strong foundation in language and culture. Gao Junzhe, an undergraduate student from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, won first place in the professional group, supervised by Assistant Professor Eric Hou Jiarui. Meanwhile, Rong Gaoyu, a master’s student from the School of Education, won third place in the non-professional group, supervised by Assistant Professor Peng Jun. The annual competition, organized by the reading and writing branch of the Association for Newspapers and Periodicals of Chinese Linguistics, attracted over 30,000 students from leading universities nationwide this year. The competition was well-received and highlighted the importance of language skills and cultural literacy in today’s academic landscape. It aimed to promote teaching and research and the dissemination of Chinese culture.
