A student group consisting of Zhao Yan, Peng Yiming, and Luo Mingjun, a cohort of 2023 studying the Doctor of Philosophy in Design program at the Faculty of Innovation and Design, City University of Macau (CityU), won the championship in the open category of the local graffiti competition with their art piece “Blooms.” The competition aimed to preserve and revitalize the local historic buildings known as “Mong-Há Villas,” a cluster of Portuguese-style housing. Participants were invited to create graffiti with the theme of retrospect, experience, and prospect on the walls of the villas’ backyard within a two-hour time limit. CityU’s winning graffiti presented the unique landscape and cultures of Macao, which was well-received by judges and audiences. Souvenirs featuring the design of the graffiti will be presented to participants and supporting units of the competition. The competition was organized by the IF Art Square, co-organized by the Macau Cultural Creative Industry Association and sponsored by the Cultural Development Fund.
