Four students from the School of Law at City University of Macau (CityU) recently participated in a summer internship program in mainland China. The program, organized by the Supreme People’s Court and the Ministry of Education, aimed to provide law students from Hong Kong and Macao with an opportunity to learn about the national judicial system and the current state of rule of law development.

A total of 54 interns from five universities, including CityU students Lin Yubin and Cai Wenni (class of 2022) and Chen Jialiang and Liu Ningyi (class of 2023), received legal training and theoretical learning at the China University of Political Science and Law. They also visited the Supreme People’s Court, the Hong Kong Basic Law Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), the Macao Basic Law Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), and Zhong Lun Law Firm to gain industry insights.

Following this initial phase, the students embarked on a one-month internship in various courts across mainland China, including Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. They were mentored by judges and gained valuable experience by studying real-life cases and court practices. The program was approved by the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the CPC Central Committee.
