To enhance the performance of trusted storage and artificial intelligence (AI) and promote innovative collaboration between the university, local communities, and enterprises, the City University of Macau (CityU) has partnered with Quantum Nebula (Macao) Microelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. (QNM) to establish a joint laboratory focused on trusted storage and AI. The signing ceremony took place today at the 29th Macao International Trade & Investment Fair (MIF). In the presence of Zhang Yaozhi, chairman of Hefei Xinfeng Technology Co., Ltd., and Ung Choi Kun, vice chairman of the University Council, CityU Rector Jun Liu and QNM Chairman Xu Feng signed the agreement on behalf of their respective parties, pioneering a model for innovative university-enterprise collaboration.
Rector Jun Liu expressed the hope of combining QNM’s strengths in cutting-edge chip research with CityU’s expertise in data science for a strong collaboration. Through this partnership, they aim to contribute to societal development in fields such as intelligent storage and data security, while fostering a spirit of innovation among students and enhancing their academic and practical skills.
Chairman Xu Feng stated that CityU has excellent faculty and substantial achievements in data science and AI. He expressed a hope for in-depth industry-academia collaboration in the areas of storage chips and AI, aiming for complementary strengths to contribute to the development of the storage chip industry and the advancement of Macao’s technology sector.
In the future, the laboratory will integrate advantageous resources from government, industry, academia, research, and application in the field of digital storage. Leveraging both scientific research capabilities, technological expertise, product development skills, talent reserves, and resources, the focus will be on fundamental theoretical research, key technology development, cutting-edge scientific inquiries, and technological innovation in areas such as trusted storage and AI integration.
