Prof. Jun Liu, rector of City University of Macau (CityU) led a delegation to visit Sunway University and Tsun Jin High School in Malaysia. They received warm welcomes from Sunway University President Sibrandes Poppema and Tsun Jin High School Principal Loh Hong Seng. Accompanying the visit were Jacky Li Xi, executive associate dean of the Faculty of International Tourism and Management (FITM); Huam Hon Tat, professor at the Faculty of Business (FOB), and Che Kai I, director of Rector’s Office.
Visit to Sunway University
During the visit to Sunway University, the delegation toured the university’s educational environment, modern teaching facilities, and student training bases, gaining insights into its educational philosophy and academic atmosphere. Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on various areas, including student exchange programs, joint academic research, co-supervision of doctoral students, and industry-academia collaboration, laying a foundation for future cooperation between the two institutions.
President Sibrandes Poppema provided a detailed introduction to the development history of Sunway Group, Sunway Education Group, and Sunway University. He emphasized the university’s commitment to close cooperation with the industry, which offers students numerous internship and practical training opportunities. Sunway Group has ample resources, including hotels and hospitals, providing students with enhanced employment opportunities. Additionally, he introduced the key research areas of Sunway University, highlighting its focus on sustainable development projects, overseas partnerships, and outstanding performances in global rankings.
Rector Jun Liu introduced CityU’s developments and strengths in interdisciplinary and industry-academia innovation, focusing on potential cooperation models between FOB and FITM with Sunway University.
Both parties look forward to engaging in deep cooperation across various fields to jointly promote innovation and development in higher education.

Visit to Tsun Jin High School, Kuala Lumpur
During the visit, Principal Loh Hong Seng provided an overview of the school, covering its history, educational philosophy, talent cultivation goals, student-teacher ratio, curriculum features, cultural exchange activities, as well as information on further education and oversea study of the students. Rector Jun Liu highlighted Macao’s unique positioning and geographical advantages, discussing the latest developments and achievements of CityU in areas such as academic program construction, curriculum features, and talent cultivation. He also encouraged students from Malaysian Chinese independent high schools to pursue further studies in Macao, providing an overview of the relevant incentive policies.
Following this, Executive Associate Dean Jacky Li Xi, along with Prof. Huam Hon Tat, shared insights on the CityU’s program offerings, student internships and practical experiences, employment opportunities, and entrepreneurship. They also discussed their experiences and impressions of living in Macao. Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on talent cultivation and topics related to student further education and studying abroad, expressing a hope to initiate more comprehensive educational cooperation.
Attending the seminar were also Yap Sue Huai, director of the Further Study Advisory & Development Department at Tsun Jin High School, along with deputy directors Liew Poh Kian and Tan Sheng Hao, among others.
