City University of Macau (CityU) recently hosted the Symposium on Resilient Urban Construction and Ecological Health Planning and Design in Hengqin-Macao. Organized by the Graduate School, the Faculty of Innovation and Design (FIAD) of CityU, and the School of Architecture at Tianjin University, the event featured prominent experts and scholars who shared valuable insights on low-carbon and resilient urban planning.
Vice Rector Ip Kuai Peng highlighted the significance of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, emphasizing the need for integrated development that balances economic growth with ecological sustainability. He called for talent and collaboration to enhance urban design and the competitiveness of the Cooperation Zone.
Keynote presentations were delivered by scholars and researchers from Tianjin University, CityU, Sun Yat-sen University, and The University of Hong Kong, covering topics, such as the assessment of Macao’s reclaimed land and its ecological enhancement, the impact of blue spaces on residents’ health, and strategies for resilient urban planning. Experts discussed innovative ideas for creating a harmonious environment that attracts global talent and businesses.
