President of Yangzhou University Liu Qiaoquan and his delegation visit CityU to foster talent cultivation and cultural exchange

Liu Qiaoquan, president of Yangzhou University (YZU), led a delegation to City University of Macau (CityU) and received a warm welcome from Rector Jun Liu. The delegation toured the campus environment and teaching facilities, then engaged in in-depth discussions on issues such as talent cultivation and student and faculty exchange. Rector Jun Liu and President Liu Qiaoquan signed a student exchange agreement on behalf of their respective universities.

Rector Jun Liu extended a warm greeting to President Liu Qiaoquan and his delegation, providing an overview of CityU’s history and achievements in terms of discipline construction, faculty team, external exchange, and industry-academia collaboration. He emphasized CityU’s vision to embrace “Macao’s Characteristics, China’s Soul, and Global Vision,” and develop interdisciplinary fields supported data science, achieving significant progress in areas such as fintech, humanities and social sciences, hospitality and tourism, and city development. He expressed his expectation for in-depth collaboration with YZU in postgraduate education, faculty and student exchange, and internationalization.

President Liu Qiaoquan shared YZU educational characteristics, discipline strengths, and internationalization efforts. He expressed great interest in exploring further collaboration opportunities with CityU in tourism and hotel management, data science, humanities and social sciences, and health and wellness, aiming to establish a sustainable partnership.

The two sides fully discussed the avenues and scopes of their future collaborations, expressing a strong expectation of strengthening cooperation in talent cultivation, student exchange, and the promotion of regional and country-specific studies along the Belt and Road Initiative. Both sides aim to leverage their respective strengths to cultivate outstanding talent and contribute to regional and national development.

The meeting also attended by representatives from YZU, namely Gong Junjie, director of the President Office; Zhang Yin, director of the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office; Chen Keqin, director of International Office (alumni association, council, education development foundation); and Qian Li, dean of Medical College. Representing CityU were Pro-Rector Robert Chan Chon Pat and Wu Cheng, head of Office of Global Affairs.
