Jiangsu Productivity Promotion Center Director and Party Secretary Zhao Zhiqiang and delegation visit CityU to seek industry-academia innovation

Zhao Zhiqiang, director and party secretary of the Jiangsu Productivity Promotion Center, recently led a delegation to visit the City University of Macau (CityU), where they were warmly received by Rector Jun Liu. The guests toured the Sino-Portugal Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on the Science of Cultural Heritage Conservation and the campus environment. The two sides held in-depth exchanges on innovative development of industry-academia collaboration, transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and regional cooperation mechanisms.

 

Rector Jun Liu introduced CityU’s educational characteristics and latest development achievements, highlighting the University’s goal of becoming a metropolitan university with “Macao’s Characteristics, China’s Soul, Global Vision” while adhering to the mission of “Serving Macao, Integrating into the Greater Bay Area.” Rector Liu highlighted CityU’s focus on developing cutting-edge fields such as data science, fintech, big health, languages and cultures, tourism and urban science, aligning with Macao’s “1+4” policy for moderate economic diversification. He also noted the establishment of a talent cultivation system which encompassed education from undergraduate to doctoral degrees, building Macao into a talent hub.

 

Director Zhao Zhiqiang highly praised CityU’s cultural legacy and development positioning. He detailed Jiangsu’s scientific and technological innovation landscape, as well as the functions, structure, and service model of the Jiangsu Productivity Promotion Center. He emphasized the Center’s commitment to deepening the integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation, expressing hope to collaborate with CityU to advance industry-academia collaboration, such as building a joint innovation service station in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

 

Both sides expressed their willingness to conduct future reciprocal visits, explore the establishment of a normalized cooperation mechanism, and jointly promote innovation and cooperation between Jiangsu’s industrial parks, enterprises and CityU, injecting new momentum into scientific, technological, and innovative development in both regions.
