Deakin University Vice President John Molony visits CityU to advance international cooperation

John Molony, vice president of Deakin University, Australia, visited City University of Macau (CityU) yesterday and was warmly received by Rector Jun Liu. The two parties signed a memorandum of cooperation to promote academic interaction and cooperation between the two universities. The guests visited the campus environment and teaching facilities to experience the campus culture. Subsequently, the two sides had in-depth exchanges and discussions on topics such as talent cultivation, academic research, joint courses, and exchanges on faculties and students, taking a new step towards substantial cooperation between the two universities. 

At the meeting, Rector Jun Liu extended a warm welcome to Vice President John Molony and introduced CityU’s achievements in aspects such as its historical development, discipline construction, faculty members, international exchanges, and the development of industry-academia collaboration. He stated that CityU’s educational philosophy of “Macao’s Characteristics, China’s Soul, and Global Vision,” highlighting the remarkable progress in the field of interdisciplinary disciplines supported by the development of big data science. 

Vice President John Molony shared Deakin University’s disciplinary and strengths as well as its cooperation with universities in China. Both sides looked forward to deeper cooperation in fields such as data science and health sciences in the future and the establishment of a sustainable cooperation platform. 

Also present at the meeting were Andy Liu Wenjian, associate dean of the Faculty of Data Science of CityU; Sun Pei, executive associate dean of the Faculty of Health and Wellness; and Wu Cheng, head of the Office of Global Affairs, and others.
