The Art Troupe of City University of Macau (CityU) recently showcased its exceptional artistry at the International Culture Festival of Shenzhen University and the Reading Day in the City of Macao, receiving widespread acclaim for its outstanding performances.
At the International Culture Festival of Shenzhen University, the Art Troupe presented its original dance performance, Memories of Lotus Ponds, allowing the audience to immerse themselves in its artistic charm. Inspired by the lotus of Macao, the dance intertwined the purity and resilience of the flowers with the history, culture, and spirit of the people of Macao. The dance, through the nuanced performance, showcased Macao’s journey from historical vicissitudes to post-handover prosperity, becoming even more glorious amidst the changing tides of time.
At the Reading Day in the City of Macao, the University Art Troupe presented three exceptional performances, vividly showcasing the youthful spirit of CityU students. The pipa duet, Send Me a Rose, displayed a rich exotic ambiance with its lively melodies and skilled musicianship, bringing the classic piece to life and guiding the audience to a world of poetry and romance. The guzheng concerto, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, with its majestic melodies and exquisite performance, showcased the profound depth and unique charm of traditional Chinese music, revealing the boundless potential of this ancient instrument in contemporary performance. The original dance, Mulan’s Sword Dance, masterfully intertwined dance with martial arts. The performance, demonstrating both strength and grace, vividly portrayed Mulan’s bravery and unwavering spirit in taking her father’s mission in the army, earning resounding applause from the audience.
The performances in the two events not only demonstrated CityU’s achievements in art education but also made a significant contribution to cultural exchange and dissemination.
