To help students integrate into campus life and build strong social connections, City University of Macao (CityU) held the “CU Tonight Orientation” and an event to recruit new members for the student association yesterday in the garden of Luso-Chinese Building on Taipa Campus, attracting nearly 600 participants. The event was organized by the Student Affairs Office (SAO) and co-hosted by the Student Association and Postgraduate Association, with sponsorship from Vegetarian Farm.

Guests officiated the event with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. They were Robert Chan Chon Pat, pro-rector of CityU; Zhai Xiaoyuan, marketing manager of Vegetarian Farm Bakery Co. During the event, singing and dance performances were staged. The dance performances ranged from passionate Latin dance and lively anime-inspired dance to a traditional Hanfu dance that blended classical costumes with elegant moves. The finale featured a catwalk show with participation from all student clubs, showcasing the creativity and energy of the student community. The singing performances also stood out as a highlight of the evening. A mix of classic and popular songs resonated deeply with the audience, who swayed gently to the rhythm and sang along softly, fully immersed in the engaging atmosphere.

The magic performance interacted with the audience by its mysterious tricks and skills, leaving everyone in awe. Additionally, a selected scene from the Beijing Opera the Poetry Contest showcased the beauty of traditional Chinese culture, while the comedy sketch Signals of Attraction delighted the crowd with its humorous plot, adding further charm and entertainment to the evening.
The interactive lottery session brought the orientation night to a climax, with cheers and excitement rising and falling throughout the venue.

Beyond the stage performances, multiple booths were set up onsite. Student clubs organized a variety of surprising and interactive games and activities for everyone to enjoy the fun. The Student Association booth offered a range of delicious snacks, attracting many students to take part. An anti-fraud booth provided engaging games and informative materials, allowing everyone to learn how to protect themselves while having fun.
